This has always been a different type of hotel to the standard business stop over. The hotel is always well presented, the staff attentive and the grounds excellent to stroll around.

The hotel has a high reputation to maintain, and although there has been refurbishment, I didn`t find the standard quite as good as the last time I stayed. Minor gripes are as follows: There was a plumbing problem occurring with the taps. When turned on, a very loud drilling type noise came from the ceiling. The only way to stop it was by flushing the toilet. I reported it, but I don`t feel there was much interest. (The room was in the Garden wing). The evening meal seemed to have a lot of differing ingredients which didn`t compliment each other, and my bread roll crumbled when I touched it! At breakfast, I was told that I could sit anywhere, but none of the tables were made up. There were plenty of staff, but no one seemed to be clearing anything. The fried eggs at the help yourself were hard. Even so, I still love the place.

The building is very nice and full of character. The bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed and clean. The bathrooms are very good.

The breakfasts were buffet, even the hot, which suffered a little as a result of this. For example the cooked tomatoes were actually tinned chopped toms heated, not properly fried toms, and for £14.95 I would expect proper cooked breakfast. The bar food was over priced for what it was.

Lovely hotel and staff, relaxing weekend break, beautiful building and grounds. The only thing missing for me was a bar with a tv to watch sports on the big screen.

I enjoyed my stay at Rigwood the only negative point for me was breakfast, cold plates, cheap sausagaes and chopped tinned tomatoes, not nice!

We stayed a the hotel for a wedding and the whole day was wonderful. The staff were very hard working, the food was excellent and the grounds superb. I will certainly consider this hotel for my daughters wedding, when the time comes. When we arrived we found a nail in our tyre but decided not to take it out in case it deflated, but when we returned to our room after the ceremony there was a note on our bed informing us of the nail which we thought was brilliant. One of the staff had seen it. The only problem was that our room did have a slight smell about it. We didn't report it because we were busy and it was ideally placed next to the reception room. The room was 118. Overall a very good stay.

Just the slight drains smell in our room, I couldn't have stayed more than one night in the room.

Well, not a bad place to stay. Confortable, well furnished and really nice staff

A prestigious Hotel like this should be better cleaned...

The whole experience. Except access to rooms.

The difficulty getting from the reception to the bedrooms, too many stairs.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice, comfortable room.

Vegetarian options not listed on menu. One starter described containing only vegetables arrived with meat. Room was close to main road so noisy durig the day (but not a problem during the evening / night).

Nice hotel and gardens and there were plenty of staff who were very helpful, happy and relaxed. We were half board and the food was good for the prices shown on the menu. Although some items have a supplement on half board meals it was well worth it. Husband had rib eye steak and there were 4 big slices on his plate. When I ordered same next night asked for only two!

Beware weddings! We stayed 5 nights and there were 3 weddings that took over the lounges, outside seating areas and bar so felt that there was nowhere quiet to read a newspaper or book after a good day out. Disco on first night went on until the small hours. Although husband slept I could not drop off until 2am!

Ringwood has a nice country house feel. All the rooms are tastefully and well decorated. With three wedding receptions being held on the one night the place had a busy but friendly atmosphere and a bit of life to it. We sat on the terrace mingling with wedding guests with no issues. Once in our room, although not far from the weddings, we suffered no disturbance at all from noise etc. The booking of a slit for dinner works well with your meal delivered in timely fashion. All the food was excellent by the way. The pre-dinner cocktail bar/escort to the upstairs dining room and the classical guitarist playing throughout all added to the experience, rather than detracting. Really enjoyable.

Being really, really picky it is a fair walk along winding corridors and up and down stairs from reception to some rooms because of the layout of the hotel but this shouldn't really bother people other than perhaps the elderley or less able. In which case I'd simply request one nearer reception.

Great grounds for wandering around. Elegant rooms and pleasant staff.

    1. Hotel was lightly staffed in the evening following a very busy Mother's day luncheon service. Staff all had walkie-talkies to keep in communication. This did nothing to add to the ambience (should all really be 'behind the scenes', guests should not have to listen to inter-staff messages. 2. We did ask for a room that was easy to access and get out to the grounds, as we had our dog with us. We were actually given room 228, which was the furthest of the lot, right at the very end of a long, long corridor. Benefit was it was a lovely refurbished room which we really liked, so we didn't ask to be moved. It just meant a long trek to take the dog out pre bedtime.

All the staff was lovely!! Could not do enough for me and my partner!! It was lovely in everyway!! Very impressed! Definetly recommend it! And will be going again. Waitresses and waiters was really polite and service was excellent! Food was superb! And breakfast was the best English breakfast we have ever had! Beautifully prepared and even the little portions of butter for your toast was in flower shapes!! I would say it's more like a 5 star!!!! And wish we had stayed another night!!!! well worth the two hour drive perfect location!! And booked with ease on Booked.net!!

    No complaints!!
